Description:
Shanahans Wines was born from an unsurpassed love and respect for life on the land, established in 2005 by winemaker John Harris, due to his passion for wine and love for his family. The name is a tribute to John’s family and in particular his late grandfather James (Jim) Shanahan, with whom he spent many of his earlier years as a child, spending school holidays and weekends with him exploring and helping him on his beloved farm. The vineyards and winery are located on the legendary Roennfeldt Road on the border of Greenock and Marananga surrounded by some of the best producers in the Barossa Valley if not the world. We hand-craft using small parcels of premium fruit that represent the true individual character of the vineyards and varieties. Fruit is fermented in small batches on skins in open top fermenters to retain as much fleshy fruit flavour as possible. Each wine in the portfolio tells a unique story which is close to my heart, and also reflects the individuality and charisma of each wine. Just like Jim each wine has loads of character and over delivers to bring you something truly outstanding.
