Description:
A love for the Barossa and its rich history for great full flavoured reds led us to buy a plot of ancient Grenache bush vines farmed by a famous local pioneer, Elmore Schulz. Nurturing vines into life on this exceptional red site in the world renowned northern Barossa area, we have come to appreciate the toil of the Barossa pioneers. We believe winemaking is both an art and a science, and so we try to create our own work of art in each wine. Our grapes are hand pruned and hand picked from our low yielding single vineyard. The sandy loam over clay soil type allows the vines to experience just enough stress so they produce small berries with great flavour concentration. We only make a small amount of wine each year. Our approach to the vineyard and the winemaking is very hands on. Each vineyard section and wine parcel is treated individually, tailoring the grape growing and winemaking to express the unique personality. Since buying the vineyard in 1996 we have had the plan to make small batches of wine and to develop our own label. Finally, in 2011 this dream became a reality with the first release of our wine! The name Red Art is inspired from our vineyard site growing only red grapes and a love for art. I designed our labels using my photography. Rojomoma also means Red Art. ‘Rojo’ is the Spanish word for red, and ‘moma’ is my favourite art museum – the Museaum of Modern Art, in New York. Rojomoma reflects a love for travel and culture.
