Description:
In 1973, Dr Benjamin Barry Killerby established one of the first vineyards in the Geographe region using vine cuttings obtained from his friend Dr Bill Pannell at Moss Wood. Dr Killerby then established a second vineyard in Margaret River in 1977. Since its establishment in 1973, Killerby has grown to be one of Western Australia's leading small wineries, with a reputation for producing an outstanding range of varietal wines, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Semillon. The cellar door is situated in the world famous Margaret River region of Western Australia, about 3 hours drive south from Perth. The region is indebted to the dedicated and passionate wine lovers who laid the foundation for what is today one of the greatest wine producing areas in Australia and indeed the world. Killerby maintains its small winery essence with most of its winemaking techniques and philosophies remaining the same since it was first established. The wine is made using small batch techniques; highest quality French oak barrels and meticulous attention to winemaking detail. 2014 marks the centenary year for Killerby, to commemorate this achievement we have created ‘The Killerby Icon Cabernet Sauvignon’ marking 100 years of trading in the south west.
