Brand owned by the Goodstone Group from Northern Tasmania. Frenchman’s Cap Winery sources fruit from Tasmania to produce outstanding, value-for-money wines that truly represent Tasmania. Winemaker, Julian Alcorso, is recognised as one of the pioneers of modern-day Tasmanian winemaking, making his first wines from the family vineyard, Moorilla Estate, in 1978. Julian nurtured the family business to be one of the state’s premier wineries and tourist attractions before moving to the Tamar Valley to establish Tamar Ridge Wines in 1998. In 2001 he left to establish Winemaking Tasmania. Julian is a multi-award winner and in 1994 was named in the top 12 winemakers in Australia and later selected in the Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine’s Winemaker of the Year awards 2009.
