93 points - Deep purple red. Intense, nutmeg and walnut tinged aromas, touches of plum and oak. A generous mouthful of wine, rich, velvety, dark chocolate tannins, tempered with freshness, spicy and leafy characters. Tannins do pressure the finish however, so I wonder how it will age.

2015 Leconfield Merlot

93 points - Dark medium red. Nose shows a bit of cedar with plums. Palate is fully matured. Softened tannins, a bit of alcohol heat and some dried herbs. There is still a core of live plums, cherries in play here. Very good merlot, excellent partner with duck or slow cooked beef. Drink now.

2015 Leconfield Merlot

90 points - Medium dark purple red with an orange fringe. Earthy, loamy aromas, some aged notes also evident, woodsy, antique furniture smells, slightly dusty. Integrated and soft, tannins are mellow and seamless. Flavour wise, this seems to have lost all of its fruit, though certainly fleshy and dense. All secondary, aged characters now, and also not offering much detail. I think this has peaked a year ago.

89 points - Good bright colour suggesting that the wine has a few more years left in it. Full bodied, but a bit lacking in flavour and distinction. Cool year, but I think Coonawarra is not the right terroir for merlot.

95 points - Deep bright black purple red. Fresh, attractive aromas, surprisingly vibrant, blackberry and red currant aromas, some minty touches, earth and chocolate, very complex. Dusty, integrated, rich and very dense. Beautiful.

95 points - Medium red with a bit of brown showing around the edges. Cassis, cabbage and eucalyptus nose. Tobacco dominates the palate. Savoury with a cassis core showing. Classic Coonawarra Cabernet! Perfectly aged and drinking superbly. Day 2: herbs come out. Deteriorated a bit, but still lovely.

95 points - Deep red with a distinctly brick fringe. Smoky, leafy aromas, faintly herbal, leather notes. Nicely integrated, medium bodied, good acidity, clean and vibrant. There is still a frisky acidity and certain energy here. Some rubber like notes in the finish.
