94 points - Brown with a red tint. One could mistake it for some aged tawny going on the colour. The nose brings it straight back to aged Nebbiolo: intensely concentrated dried herbs, medicinal chartreuse / fernet branca. Beguiling. Palate medium bodied but packing a punch of the dried herbs and tar spectrum. Definitely drink up, this is fully mature. Later in the evening: deteriorated. Drink up. Open without decanting, pour and drink straight away. It loses the aromatic perfume pretty quickly.

88 points - Brick, medium red, very aged. Somewhat oxidative on the nose, seems to have deteriorated after opening. Mushroomy, savoury, dried medicinal herb aromas. Savoury on the palate, good intensity, saline if a little oxidative, aged furniture flavours, hints of nuts.

96 points - Deep dark inky purple red. Complex, iodine, rose petal aromas, dried blood, really classical. Amazing bottle, much better than the previous bottle we had which was cork affected. Great musculature, firm with integrated tannin. Smoky, seaweed tones, charry and developed. Amazing bottle of this.

96 points - Beautiful aromas, developed aromas, dried herbs and spices, licorice, dried blood. Very pretty palate, a beautiful bottle of wine. Sappy, medium bodied but driving and full of intensity. Beautifully aged and complete. A very smart wine. Surely the best 1999 of the batch we’ve bought so far.

96 points - Medium red with a brick fringe. Beautiful, aromatic nose with dried florals and herbs, plum and dark cherry, white pepper, mint, charcuterie. Medium bodied, ethereal and light on its feet. Slightly tense and tight structure, beautifully aged. Hints of development character, old furniture polish. Very elegant.
