93 points - Attractive deep unfiltered purple red. Restrained plummy aromas, spices, earth. Tight and beautifully soft and fluid on the palate, charming and graceful. Good density of fruit, succulence framed by gentle tannins. A very smart cool climate style with a future.

91 points - Medium dark purple red. Fragrant, savoury, iron stone, red cherry like aromas. Medium bodied, finely structured style with bold, slightly forward, assertive tannins. Savoury on the palate, hints of iodine and dried herb. Good line and length. A lip smacking food wine.

94 points - Med deep purple red. A beautiful, soft and savoury, complex nose. Red fruit, leather, earth, smoke and even hazelnut hints. Soft plush, fine and velvety palate with a really lovely concentration. Very measured and balanced. Not too driving and yet present enough to leave the palate with a gentle hum. Full in the mouth. Very good length. Delicious!

2011 DogRock Grenache

93 points - Plush velvety texture. Earthy aroma. Spice: cinnamon, a touch of clove. Smooth, tannins still sitting slightly across the whole thing, causing a slight disharmony - but time will fix this. An excellent wine already. After about an hour in the glass the wine comes much more into balance: berries emerge, blueberries and raspberries. Complexities come out: herbs and spices.

92 points - Very beautiful and complex nose of potpourri, subtle florals and dried herbs and leather. Palate is well measured, restrained and yet quite expressive. Very fine well integrated tannins, a fine powdering. Peppery finish. An impressive drop. Drinking very well, especially with food! Only minor detractor is that it's a touch too acidic.
