92 points - Dark red. Tart raspberry, greenish herbal, charred oak, leather aromas. Palate a little hard, firm charred tannins and acidity make this a serious no nonsense sort of wine. A lingering sense of bitterness and the firmness make this difficult to enjoy casually. Needs more cellar time. As Huon says, it's definitely essency.
89pts. 2nd day with food: it's grown quite delicious. Fruit aromas take more of the foreground. Nose is dense and tight woven. Fruit, leather and fine grained tannins much more in balance in the mouth, a perfect foil for the food, adding lots of complexity. Yum!

Tasted on Sun, May 27, 2012.

92 points - Strong cassis aroma. Tannins still very hard and raw. Highly intense wine though. Berry aromas very much alive. Good acid. Has a future. Needs perhaps another couple of years. A very serious wine, not a quaffer. Day 1: 88pts

Day 2: much better. Excellent with food (grilled Portuguese chicken). Cassis shines through beautifully, with the perfect amount of bitterness. Peppery tannins, very good quality. Cedar notes. Suggests this wine needs another 5 years or so. Try again in 2017.

Tasted on Sun, May 27, 2012.
