96 points - Deep purple red. Spicy, stable floor aromas, some plum. The palate expresses a good deal of umami, ironstone, iron bucket style flavours, also lots of dried spice. There is a really good density and concentration here, bitterness that is appetising. A powerful, almost profound style.

96 points - Deep inky purple. Dense, profound and complex aromas. Deeply flavoured, there is an amazing power and undercurrent of smoky, dusty fruit. Great structure, musculature, it’s toned without being brawny. A quietly powerful wine. Savoury in style, chimney soot, coal dust characters overlay. Excellent length and presence.

96 points - Dark medium purple. Cloudy. Salty plum nose. Palate is the most saline I have ever tasted in a wine. Saltiness is the key driver. Ripe dark fruit, some spices. Dense consistency on the palate, finely woven tannins. It drinks well now but will obviously mature into more complexity. An extraordinary wine, full of interest. Peculiar at first because of the minerality / saltiness. Iron. This is built for the very long haul. Try again in 2028. Later: it’s gone into a mulberry direction. The salinity beautifully integrated, almost like dark chocolate with a bit of salt. Texture has that rich gelatinous creamy feel, but without being at all cloying. A head turning wine.
