95 points - Dark red. Coconut oak. Palate perfectly integrated and seamless. Coconut oak dominates. It’s a hedonistic coconut concoction with a sweet fruit core. It sits across the grilled beef we have with it, but is surprisingly enjoyable. There is a decidedly savoury overtone. Superb bottle, old school style of wine. Stands up easily to the food.

Tasted on Sat, Sep 16, 2023.

Thick on the palate, with coconut aromatics dominating. ‘Bounty’ in a glass: coconut and chocolate tones. The wine has a salty edge. A hedonistic, showy wine cut in the blockbuster style. Lots of people will love this.
Day 5: significantly improved. Mellowed, the savoury component is better integrated. Now we get the darkest of berries with tar notes. In the direction of aged hermitage. Maybe keep it for another 10-20 years and see how it develops?

Tasted on Thu, Jan 2, 2020.

Ballsy on the palate, it is built, dense and ageworthy. Syrupy, fruitcake style, definitely cloves and spices. Good if winemakerly. For lovers of this style. Tasted 5 days later: it has mellowed out a lot, and is still potable amazingly. Rounded and seamless, it now shows a trace of menthol, a hint of black fruit beneath all of the oak work.

Tasted on Tue, Dec 31, 2019.

Almost syrupy texture. A truly old school Barossa wine. High octane stuff. After an hour in the decanter the cherry flavour lifts and is replaced by a raspberry veil, and the previously dungy elements turned into a more thyme herb direction.
Chocolaty. Can age for another decade.
A lot of folks will love this. But it's not elegant, it's in your face Barossa. So for those that prefer a more subtle style, go for a different wine. Here hedonism rules!

Tasted on Fri, Oct 16, 2015.
