95 points - Deep red purple. Slight reductive aromas, complex and densely packed. Good body, richness, nice acidity too, some black fruit, good balance, finely structured. A little more extraverted than the Pomerol. Loads of fruit sweetness, driving and long.

94 points - Dark purple red. Complex, low level sulphides on the nose, florals, dense, hints of animal, cedar, fragrant. Full to medium bodied, compact and muscular in style, shows some elegance and concentration. Core of beautifully sweet fruit, umami notes, ironstone. Beautiful wine that needs time. Persistent with a lick of spirity heat. Cellar it!

93 points - Starts as a good, structured, somewhat-generic Barossa red, but by day 3 has gone tarry and porty. Excellent structure and length, but it's not currently my bag.

95 points - Dense, almost impenetrable aromas of dark spice and tar are the introduction to a palate that can at best only be described as statuesque except not for the stereotypical reasons - the sense of weight is proportional to the breadth of flavours to be detected with glee whilst one allows the seemingly endless length of presence to slide past each and every last olfactory sense. Oak is present in tertiary supporting sense only whilst acid is subtle yet persistent. One suspects that this wine is at or very near its peak of development but likely to hold for a decade or more. Worth every cent of the NZ $35 I paid at The Village Grape in Sumner in 2000.
