Savoury, ferrous aromas, plummy but mostly sooty. Dense, thickly boned, the palate dominated by this sooty, savoury flavour, like charry oak, somewhat syrupy. Time will tell whether this has enough fruit component to age well without the savoury, barrel, stalky notes overpowering. There is a mineral graphite undercurrent at play here. Tannins are fine. Hit quite pronounced at present, even against fatty lamb racks. Cherry finish, with good acid to balance the lot.
