98 points - Staggering nose of chocolate, tar, leather and tobacco. Dark fruits and more chocolate on the palate after the alcohol quickly dissipated. A rare pleasure.

100 points - In Magnum format, amazing black fruit, chocolate plum cake, cassis and a touch of kirch, abundant spice, earth and a lash of leather. The intensity on the forward palate was the first surprise, the middle as plush as any wine I've tasted, bracketed by oak and tannins that wereintegrated more than I'd expect from such a young wine. One of the world's greats.
