Savoury aspects dominate: leathery spices. A medium bodied wine. Fully mature, drinking very well.

Tasted on Fri, Sep 25, 2020.

90 points - Aged medium red purple colour. Aged tones on the nose, dried florals, quite savoury, sour cherry, blackberry notes, also slightly smoky, sooty. Well aged on the palate, it shows bright acidity that makes this better with food. Good back palate and length with a juicy core of sappy fruit.

Tasted on Fri, Sep 25, 2020.

Nose shows cherry 'kirsch' aromas with cedar, and perhaps bacon. Palate nice medium balanced, with food acidity keeping the wine fresh. Fruit still beautiful, with secondary flavours coming in. Some red and black fruit, spices and cola aromas, aged tones, a hint of oak. Medium bodied, still has brightness of fruit, a hint of mint and leaf, the tiniest bit of chaff but by and large the tannins have integrated. Good persistence. Acidity is there with a certain sweet liquor character too. Not bad, aged, cool climate, new world style. With airing, extracted, savoury tones emerge, walnut.

Tasted on Sun, Aug 21, 2016.
