96 points - Dark red, slight purple. Cloudy edge. Wood spices on the nose: cloves, some pepper and five spice. Aniseed. Smooth palate, well developed and integrated. Almost a light chocolaty touch. Blackberry fruit still shining through. Fine tannins laced through. Day 2: improved! Quarter bottle rest left in the bottle overnight. Nose much more open, with cherry and blackberry tones. Palate has aniseed, dried herbs and free flowing mouthfeel. Outstanding. Came up from 95.

96 points - Dark deep purple red. Multifaceted floral aromas, leather, black pepper spice and fresh earth. Beautifully integrated and soft and supple tannins, harmonious and flowing yet with a measured firmness in the finish. A complete wine, not wanting for more. Driving flavour, lengthy and persistent. Bravo, a triumph of ageing. Must have been a very concentrated wine in its youth for the fruit stature and presence to remain like this at ten years of age.

91 points - Deep purple red. Quite some savoury, sulphide character on the nose. Medium bodied with a muscular slightly firm structure, some black cherry liquor flavours and wood spice. There's a hint of alcohol heat. Needs a long time though. Not ready to drink now.

90 points - Dense red fruit nose. On the palate there is fruit intensity and fruit sweetness. A bit of lipstick. There is a slight overload of bitterness perhaps, not too bad. Good dense structure. Doesn't have the elegance of the guigals, but still enjoyable. Just shown up in this flight by the Guigals.
