Drinking at its peak no doubt, the tannins are now absolutely melded and in great harmony with the fruit, this wine has stature and presence, yet restraint and refinement. Long and emphatic, there is singing fruit clarity still here; this must have been a big, powerful wine in its youth. Quite a stunner.

Tasted on Sun, Aug 4, 2024.

95 points - Medium red. Nose shows fresh kirsch. Fine tannins are the main theme on the palate, with cherry high tones. A bit lean in the mid tones, which is emphasised by the graphite aromas. Superb acidity, which is the hallmark here and keeping the wine on its feet. Drink up, this is at or past peak. Needed about 45min to open up.
There is an insight about ageing here: has the formidable tannins structure outlived the exuberant fruit? Maybe 5-8 years is the idea age for this style of Otago Pinot.

Tasted on Fri, Mar 11, 2022.

Quite savoury, powerful and concentrated in flavour on the palate. Firm, solid tannins providing lots of backbone. Not as fleshy as I would’ve expected though, the fruit expression having faded somewhat over time. Needs food.
