<p><b>89 points</b> - Dark red with a distinct brown tint throughout. Shy nose but with definite horsey, oaky, sulphur dioxide hints. Medium bodied palate, a little lean and short unfortunately. Fruit is recessive, bacon notes most evident, then bitter dark chocolate. Acidity a little forward too. Let's see how this fares when aired a little more. With airing, there's the lick of leaf aroma and twigs, pinoid, eucalypt. Palate density is ok, certainly pleasant with hard cheese like Comte or Manchego.</p><p>Tasted on Wed, Jan 1, 2014.</p>

<p><b>92 points</b> - Dark red purple. Nose is nice and fragrant, with rich leather and sweet earth, eucalyptus and tobacco leaf. Palate is less plush than expected, quite some acidity is present. Nice earthy concentration and cigarette and roast coffee complexity. Long intense finish with hints of vanilla and toasted caramel. Good with food.
