94 points - Medium dark purple red. Sultry and subtle nose, a bit mysterious, undercurrents of leather, dried cloves and spice, turned earth and dried roses. Beautifully driven with intensity, framed with no shortage of oak. A classy wine.

95 points - Medium unfiltered red. Restrained, somewhat mysterious nose, hidden spices and leather. Compact, focussed and powerful, a rich, firm and structural style with good tannins and long line. After some food, the wine has become more expressive, nose more minerally, complex. But the palate is where it shines, layers of blue and red berries, juicy, held together with a lovely frame of tannins, savoury and soy like. Very old world. Well after some time open, this has really improved and flowered. Absolutely gorgeous and perfectly aged, on song tonight. Initially very much withheld and a bit curt.

95 points - Dark ruby red. Elegant Spices, some faint soy, red berries. Long on the palate. Perhaps a tiny touch of Brett? Let’s see how it evolves. A big wine with dense tannins. Needs time to open up. Later: mint. Red berries. Just getting into the drinking zone now at 8 years. Has another two decades to go. At least.

Medium to full bodied, lovely floral, savoury, herbal notes, coffee grounds, milk chocolate, leather. Tannins velvety and integrated, nice length. Outstanding tonight with the lobster spaghetti with mushrooms and Manjimup truffles.
