Interesting nose of lemon sherbet with an unripe pear type of aroma. Alas, the palate doesn’t quite follow up with the interest of the nose. A bit mineral, melon-esque. A bit flat - could do with a bit more, sharper acidity.

Tasted on Fri, Jan 12, 2024.
Lars H.2024-01-12T06:18:16Z2022 Tumblong Hills Chenin BlancTerence L.http://www.corkscore.com/wine/201419#review-1698452024-01-12T06:19:46Z2024-01-12T06:16:01Z
87 points - Pale gold with a glint of green. Nose shows refinement. Apple fruit characters, honeydew melon, straightforward flavours but with bright acidity. And a dab of sweetness. Quite some reduction too, particularly in the finish.

Tasted on Fri, Jan 12, 2024.
Terence L.2024-01-12T06:16:01Z2018 Clonakilla T&L Vineyard Block One Shiraz ViognierTerence L.http://www.corkscore.com/wine/175681#review-1681982023-11-26T12:58:01Z2023-11-26T12:37:40Z
96 points - Medium dark purple red. Definitely ready to drink now, with nothing to be gained from further ageing. Not good value for money given the price and not close to the standard of the best Canberra district shiraz viogniers.

Tasted on Sat, Oct 14, 2023.
Adrian C.2023-10-14T11:08:50Z2014 McWilliam's 1877 Hilltops ShirazLars H.http://www.corkscore.com/wine/145490#review-1668292023-09-21T13:54:41Z2023-09-21T11:03:41Z
96 points - Dark medium red hints of purple. Slightly cloudy. Dark cherries. Coal dust. Superb acidity providing a cleansing line and lift throughout. There is that iron, coal element, surrounded by the dark cherry aromatics. Finishing on the iron rust tones but with a cleansing light texture. Superb. Drinking outstandingly now.
Later: opens up, spices come into play on the nose. Clove amidst the coal dust. The palate becomes more savoury, with the spices and fine coal dust beautifully arrayed.
After 2hrs: tar and dried thyme. Cherry notes have dropped off a bit. Drink within an hour of decanting it. At peak.

Tasted on Thu, Sep 21, 2023.
Lars H.2023-09-21T11:03:41Z2014 McWilliam's 1877 Hilltops ShirazTerence L.http://www.corkscore.com/wine/145490#review-1668282023-09-21T11:26:02Z2023-09-21T11:00:19Z
96 points - Deep dark red purple. Beguiling and inviting nose of dried spices, chimney soot, plummy fruit, rusty bucket. The palate is joyous, balanced and harmonious. Tannins are beautifully refined, resolved, elegant and integrated. Flavours and textures are detailed and refined, fruit sweetness still singing, leather. There is an aerial nature here too, a finesse. Lingering and detailed finish.

Tasted on Thu, Sep 21, 2023.
Terence L.2023-09-21T11:00:19Z
